London, New York, Madrid or Afghanistan? Article by Peter Abrahams 

NOT SO LONG ago, the United Nations made clear that the problem of growing poppies in Afghanistan has grown.  The presence of NATO troops has thus failed to bring down this most cruel destroyer of Human Talents in our streets throughout the World. As things stands now, only some of us, humans, SAY (by their actions), “The moment you become successful or rich and famous, use Hard Drugs to destroy the very Mind, Body & Spirit that helped you become rich and famous in the first place. And then let your loved ones and most ardent fans suffer torment by watching your ignominious demise." The question before us, therefore, is: London, New York, Madrid or Afghanistan? Where exactly should we be fighting the drugs that wastes and destroys Human Talents no end?

At one point in The Mejai, it becomes clear that devil can only defeat the human race in any part of the World by wasting as much Human Talents with whatever means he can. Some in politics want to tackle the problem of Drugs that damages Minds and Talents in our midst by sending soldiers on a journey to destroy Poppy Farms in Afghanistan. Philosophy disagrees: Trying to solve the menace of drugs in Afghanistan when its Marketplace is in London, New York and Madrid is like trying to set sail across the World in a Ship with gaping holes in its bowels. If you create thousands of cars, which no one is able to buy, your plant will fold sooner or later as a matter of course. The answer to our question is thus LONDON, NEW YORK & MADRID; that’s where the menace of drugs can be brought to its knees.

The only reason why Drugs from Afghanistan thrive to waste & destroy Talents in our midst is the current Prison System coupled with the lack of a good Law of Witnesses. I gave up on the PRISON SYSTEM in the 1980s when I became privy to certain information as a member of the Crime Prevention Panel in one of the London Boroughs. If you want to PREVENT human beings from committing Crime, the last thing you do is to DEFILE them. What governments don’t realise is that, a defiled human being loses his or her ability to fight from within (on his or her own) and finds it harder to resist the temptation of causing HARM to others. So many people come out of Prison only to re-offend and make matters worse by increasing the Crime Bill; this because the one thing that the Prison System does better than anything else is to DEFILE HUMANS. Defiled Humans have a higher propensity to commit crime at the least temptation and end up back in jail; hence the problem of Prison overcrowding. Philosophy has to give a lead; else politicians will embark on wasteful ventures. This is not to SAY politicians are inadequate. Instead, the nature of politics demands of politicians to operate in a Very Busy Street with unbelievable demands on their time, which makes it naturally impossible for the Human Mind to philosophise effectively while busy in politics. Hence The Mejai.

Upon reading The Mejai, you’ll come across a story about a man who committed crime in a land where no human is allowed to be defiled. THERE, IN THAT LAND, A VICTIM OF CRIME IS A PERSON WHO HAS ALREADY PAID FOR A VALUED GOOD THAT THE STATE HAS FAILED TO DELIVER. For the Victim of Crime, or his or her relations, would have already paid the State in taxes to be protected from the menace of crime and the fear of crime. And he, who pays for something that is Not Delivered, has Right on his side to demand, at least, his losses back. (On that basis, all victims of crime, under the current Prison system, in Europe and America and elsewhere are being cheated by the State or their governments.) How to put an end to this Cheating of Victims of Crime is what The Mejai teaches. Instead of focusing on what the State should be doing (naturally) on behalf of the Victim of Crime, who has paid for goods that the State has failed to deliver, the Prison System is based on "punishing" Perpetrators of Crime. Yet – think about it - no human can measure punishment accurately by the number of days or years that a Crime Perpetrator spends behind bars. The Mejai offers a better way of dealing with the problem, which, I can assure you, makes re-offending impossible for a long, long time.

LACK OF WITNESS LAW make solving Crime more difficult than it should be. We want people to come forward and bear witness and help the Police solve Crime; yet we have no LAW PROTECTING WITNESSES TO THE HILT. What The Mejai offers in the story is Law of Witnesses, which protects Witnesses to the hilt and makes it far easier for people to come forward and help the Police solve crime.

PLEASE NOTE: The novel begins with a Christian boy and an Egyptian, who speaks of Jihad because we – especially those of us in the West and in the Islamic World – are where we are now (both good and bad) because of Abraham, the Bible and the Koran. GIVEN THE RIGHT PHILOSOPHY, AS CAN BE FOUND IN THE MEJAI, THE PROBLEM OF DRUGS CAN BE TACKLED IN LONDON, NEW YORK & MADRID.

UPDATE: This weekend, 1st September 2007, over One Hundred Early Released Prisoners had to be taken back to jail in the UK; this because they had been re-offending within days of being set free. EVIDENCE of what The Mejai means by “a defiled human being loses his or her ability to fight from within (on his or her own) and resist the temptation of causing HARM to others.” Those Defiled Humans that are going back to jail in the UK are humans (unknowingly) DESTROYED BY NATURE of the Prison System. They will cause HARM to others at the least temptation. The day the civilised World abandons this Human Defiling Instrument of State called Prison to embrace a more Just Way of doing things for Victims of Crime, the rate of Crime will follow to tumble so fast it will amaze all of mankind.
