Why I write
Give all the idols on Earth to one man on an island and he'll become the most wretched of paupers.
Place the totality of human talents in one major city at the disposal of the same man and he'll live on the island as though he were God.
No human can get to enjoy life entirely on his own. No one can say he owes not his existence to the acts and talents of others. We all come and go through Births AND Deaths. And those who come after us pay dearly for all our costly errors. Such is life and nothing can have it altered.
It is written elsewhere that 'The Earth is fixed.' I used the tool of philosophy to examine the claim long and hard and found those who think otherwise are in the wrong.
I looked again and found the price to be paid for our every error is also fixed, like the Earth is fixed. For this reason I write - to show nothing happens to us for nothing.
The other reason why I write is to show that there are things that men of Science have no talent for; but then it is not their fault that there are things that they do not know and cannot understand, until it is well explained to them. Men are gifted different talents in Arts and Science and Philosophy for a very good reason - and this The Mejai explains through the story of a boy to the full.
